Erin Roberson, Principal
My
family moved to Fayette County in 2002 when my husband
accepted a ministry position at Heritage Christian
Church in Fayetteville. Prior to our move, I was
serving as Principal at Hager Elementary School in
Ashland, Kentucky. Although I was sad to leave my
friends, family, and co-workers in Kentucky, I was
excited about our move to Fayette County.
I
began my career in Fayette County as an Early
Intervention Program teacher at an elementary school in
Fayetteville, working with 4th and 5th
grade students in both reading and math. After working
at the school for a few months, I was chosen to complete
an administrative internship and was assigned to Peeples
Elementary. As fate would have it, the assistant
principal at Peeples was selected to open a new
elementary school in Fayette County, and I was hired to
take her place at Peeples. In March 2006, the founding
principal of Peeples, Sandra Watson, was promoted to
Director of Elementary School Improvement and
Professional Learning, and I was chosen to become the
second-ever principal of Peeples Elementary. I have
worked continuously in elementary education since 1988,
other than a short “leave” from public education when I
first married and worked for two years as Director of
Special Events at Savannah College of Art Design.
Although I loved my job at SCAD, I missed elementary
education and was elated when I was able to return to
the teaching ranks!
My
time at Peeples has been both challenging and
rewarding. I am blessed to be involved in a school
where the staff works hard to provide an exceptional
education for all students, parents are willing to fully
participate in their children’s education, and students
understand the importance of a quality education.
Peeples Elementary is truly a school where excellence is
the standard. As we say at Peeples, “Effort +
Enthusiasm + Encouragement = Excellence.” Rockets Rule!
I
have two children who attend Fayette County Schools.
Although they miss their relatives in Kentucky, both
boys love living in Fayette County. As you can imagine,
I stay very busy with school, church, and
extra-curricular activities. In the rest of my free
time, I enjoy gardening (I’m not very good at it, but I
like trying!), painting (again, I’m not very good at it,
but I’m always ready to try the latest faux painting
techniques!), reading, and walking our dog, Hubble.
I
enjoy working with the staff, parents, and students of
Peeples Elementary as we continue to fulfill our mission
of success for all students. I welcome your comments
and questions any time.
